Stir-Fried Seaweed Salad
Miyeokjulgi Bokkeum, Stir-Fried Seaweed Salad |
Miyeokjulgi Bokkeum is a
light and healthy Korean side dish made with stir-fried seaweed stems. Seaweed
is rich in fiber and essential minerals like iodine, calcium, and magnesium,
which support digestion and help maintain balance in the body. With its clean
flavor this dish is perfect for everyday meals without feeling heavy.
Ingredients:
- 10 oz (280g) seaweed stems (miyeokjulgi)
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- ½ tbsp minced garlic
- ½ onion
- A bit carrot (optional)
- 1 tbsp tuna fish sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp mirim (cooking wine)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions:
Step 1
Rinse the seaweed stems
three times, then place them in cold water and bring to a boil. Once it starts
boiling, cook for 3 more minutes. After 3 minutes, rinse under cold water,
drain, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Stir-fry garlic – Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add ½ tbsp minced garlic, and stir-fry until fragrant. Cook seaweed – Add seaweed stems and stir-fry for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add sliced onion and carrot,
1 tbsp tuna fish sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp mirim, 1 tbsp sesame oil, and 1
tbsp sesame seeds. Stir-fry for 1 more minute. Soft, savory, and nutritious
stir-fried seaweed stems are ready!
