Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Samgyeobsal Deopbap
Annyeonghaseyo! Hello everyone! It is always great to meet with you here on my blog!
Grilled Pork Belly
(samgyeobsal gui) is one of the most representative Korean dishes. It is a very
unique and delicious cuisine, particularly with friends and family. However, it
would not be convenient to have the Grilled Pork Belly cooked at home, as grilling,
preparing side dishes, and making rice can all be tedious. Then, how about
putting ingredients all together in a bowl while also keeping the unique nature
of Grilled Pork Belly? So, here comes today's cuisine, Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Samgyeobsal
Deopbap. Hope you enjoy this recipe!
How To Make It
Ingredients: (2 serving) 0.7 lb. pork belly, half a red onion, 6 pieces lettuce, 2 bowls rice
Sauce: 2T soy sauce, 2T
cooking wine, 2T water, 2T honey, 1/2T red pepper paste, 1/2T minced garlic, a
bit of ginger and pepper
Step 1: Cutting Ingredients
Slice the lettuce into appropriate sizes.
Cut the red onion thinly.
Let me show you how to make pickled red onion. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of water.
Mix it
well.
Step 2: Making Sauce
Put 2 tablespoons of soy sauce in the bowl.
Add 2 tablespoons of cooking wine, 2 tablespoons of honey or sugar, 2
tablespoons of water, half a tablespoon of minced garlic, a bit of minced
ginger and a bit of pepper. Mix it well.
Step 3: Grilling pork belly
Place the pork belly on a preheated pan. Grill it well until golden.
Turn it over when it turns light golden brown. You don’t need to cook it fully because we will cook more with sauce.
Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces.
If the pork belly is too oily, wipe it off with a kitchen towel.
Then, add the sauce that you just made and boil it down over medium high heat.
Flip it back and forth so
that the sauce gets well incorporated. When the sauce is boiled down to a
certain extent, turn the heat off. Let me put it in a bowl.
Step 4: Plating
Put the rice in a bowl. Put some sliced
lettuce. Lay the pork belly on the lettuce. Put some pickled red onion in the
middle. The combination of red onion pickle and pork belly is really good. Sprinkle
some sesame seeds. This is optional. If you have any sauce left, pour it over
the rice. Tasty Pork belly rice bowl is done!
